Gen Jacobs Gen Jacobs, a San Diego native, Gen began dancing at the age of 6, beginning with tap, jazz and character. At the age of 10, she began studying ballet at The Ballet Conservatory under the influential training and exams of the Royal Academy of Dance. Through her teen years she continued to train in ballet and jazz at local studios. While in college, her creative side took a side trip and she chose to pursue an education in graphic design, got married and started a family. But, her love for dance was always there! After having her second daughter, she took up dance again by taking ballet at California Ballet and then at Black Mountain Dance. While at California Ballet, she tried out a hip hop class - and fell in love with the creative & free form movement. Her “late blooming” interest in hip hop grew and continued her education at Culture Shock San Diego. When Danceology opened, she began taking the adult jazz and soon after took up adult hip hop. Having two daughters that dance at Danceology, one of her greatest joys is seeing them grow as dancers themselves and realized that she wanted to share her love for learning & teaching to younger, beginning dance kids. She now teaches beginning hip hop, ages 6-9 at Danceology and loves every second and beat. She looks forward to continue to dance with the support and love of her family & friends. Aside from dancing, Gen is a full-time Graphic Designer. She resides in Carmel Mountain, with her husband Dave and two daughters, Hannah and Maddy.
